We’re compelled to offer quality online therapy out of our own personal journeys. When some of us lived abroad, it was challenging to find good counseling; someone who understood our language, culture, and needs, and who addressed them through a therapeutic means that we were familiar with. In addition, after spending significant time living in rural areas, we realized that the same issues of accessibility to good therapy can also be quite challenging, due to rural constraints, unpredictable weather, and a general shortage of mental health providers.
What is CBT?
CBT involves counseling techniques that are often used to guide traditional “talk therapy” sessions. It is a method of developing increased self-awareness by understanding how thoughts, emotions, and actions interconnect. When people are more aware of these connections, they can often start to make changes in the way that they think, act, or feel. This counseling technique is a short-term, goal-driven method that is used to help individuals accomplish objectives through practical, hands-on techniques for problem solving and positive change.

What Happens During CBT Counseling Online?
CBT is a framework we use during our discussions to help people develop self-awareness in order to make positive change. The important thing to remember is that your feelings are valid. During CBT counseling, we help clients recognize and honor emotions while simultaneously understanding how these feelings influence thoughts and actions and how they all interact with each other. Because CBT is a goal-oriented counseling method, we’ll start your first session by discussing what changes or goals you want to work toward. Then, we’ll create a plan with practical steps to move forward. You’ll receive “homework” at the end of each session. These are real world applications for the skills you’re developing in order to achieve your desired results. During each session, we’ll discuss your homework and progress toward your goals, and we’ll continually make adjustments.
